Report Writer issue - balance amount (dollars) shown to four decimal points
I created a Report Writer Template with columns for LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, BALANCE, ADULTS, CHILDREN, INFANTS, DOGS, and RESERVATION NUMBER and scheduled the report to run daily to a PDF (for ease of staff printing). I did a test report and noticed the Balance due column has four decimal points. This is supposed to be the amount of dollars due. Why are there four decimal points in the balance (in dollars)?
I reached out to RMS support and their answer made sense. "As per checking on our resources, this is not a bug and it is an expected behaviour. Report Writer templates do not provide formatting controls to limit numeric or currency fields to two decimal places. Because of this, the Balance Due column will continue to display four decimal places when viewed in the template output or when generated as a scheduled PDF. As a workaround, if you require the values to display as standard currency (two decimal places), you may consider exporting the report to Excel and applying number or currency formatting to the Balance column before saving or distributing the report."
But it would still be nice if Balance was shown as $x.xx, NOT x.xxxx. Reducing Balance from four decimal points to two decimal points would make the report a lot easier to read and understand.
