The free game Backrooms has the player confined in apparently limitless featureless rooms and passageways and has to escape. Played from first-person point of view, the game is a horror exploration one. Backrooms also support various VR Backrooms headsets.

Though the gameplay is really simple and the game is somewhat short, this game is in a similar line to games like Slenderman and Siren Head in that its main goal is to create an uncomfortable environment to put the player on edge.

Backrooms' idea is based on a "creepypasta" narrative that claims one may "clip" through reality—that is, effectively glitch over the walls in real life—and find oneself in the backrooms, a vast labyrinth of empty, carpeted rooms with repeating pattern wallpaper. The rooms include creatures pursuing the player and have bright, noisy, fluorescent lights.
